The best lightweight electric unicycle is the King Song 14D Pro: 32 lb with a 265 lb load limit, a 420 Wh battery, UL 2272 certification and an angled telescopic trolley handle, for about $700.
If you want more range for little extra weight, the King Song 16S Pro doubles the battery to 840 Wh at 38.4 lb, the most watt-hours per pound of any wheel under 40 lb here. The lightest single-tire wheel is the 27.6 lb InMotion V6, and the lightest wheel with suspension is the InMotion V9 at 50.7 lb.
Light matters if you carry your wheel onto transit, up stairs or into a car trunk. We ranked wheels on weight, battery per pound, load limit, handle and certification, using the makers' own spec pages.

The 14D Pro is the lightweight wheel most adults can live with. At 32 lb it carries a 420 Wh, 60V pack, an 800W rated motor (2,400W peak) and a 14-inch tire, and it is rated for riders up to 265 lb, where the lighter V6 and E20 stop at 198 lb. King Song quotes 18.6 mph after unlock and a 3.5-hour charge.
The angled telescopic trolley handle is the feature that makes the weight manageable day to day: you roll it rather than carry it through stations, lobbies and stores.
Skip it if you need more than short trips; the 16S Pro has twice the battery for 6.4 lb more.
Most battery under 40 lb
King Song 16S Pro

The 16S Pro is the light wheel that still commutes. It has an 840 Wh pack, a 1,200W rated motor (3,800W peak) and a 16 x 2.125 inch tire at 38.4 lb. King Song's FAQ estimates about 36 miles for a 150 lb rider on flat city roads and about 26.7 miles for a 220 lb rider commuting in town.
The catch for carrying: King Song's spec table for the 16S Pro does not list a trolley handle, so check the product photos and box contents if rolling it matters to you.
Skip it if you mainly ride a mile or two to a train; the 14D Pro is lighter and has the handle.

The V6 weighs 27.6 lb with a 240 Wh pack, a 500W rated motor (1,000W peak), a 15.5 mph top speed and a 14-inch wheel with a 3-inch wide tubeless tire. InMotion lists IPX5, UL 2272 certification by TUV Rheinland and a 5-hour charge.
It is the wheel for a lighter rider who carries it more than rides it far. The load limit is the thing to check: 198 lb in the spec table and 100 kg in the FAQ, so plan on the lower figure.
Skip it if you weigh near 198 lb; the 14D Pro adds 4.4 lb and 67 lb of load capacity.

The V8S puts 728 Wh, a 1,000W rated motor (2,000W peak) and a 16 x 2.125 inch tire into 35.2 lb, with a retractable handlebar and a 264 lb load limit. At its $599 sale price (regular $1,099), it is the cheapest way to carry a big battery in a light wheel.
InMotion ships it limited to 15.5 mph, raised to 35 km/h through the app. The stock 84V, 1.5A charger takes about 6 hours, and InMotion says it accepts up to 4A.
Skip it if UL 2272 certification matters to you; the 16S Pro and 14D Pro state it, and InMotion's V8S page does not.

- InMotion lists 50.7 lb, 48.5 lb and 24 kg on one page

King Song's lightest suspension wheel, the S18 Pro+, weighs 55 lb. The V9's trolley handle folds, which helps in a car trunk.
Skip it if your streets are smooth; the 38.4 lb 16S Pro carries more battery with 12.3 lb less to lift.
Lightest of all
INMOTION E20 Lite
A 22 lb dual-tire trainer for short practice rides and riders who mostly carry their wheel.
- Weight
- 22 lb
- Battery
- 120 Wh
- Wh per lb
- 5.5
- Max load
- Not stated by InMotion
- Top speed
- 9.3 mph
- Tire

Pros
- Lightest wheel here by 5.6 lb
- About $280
- 9.3 mph ceiling
- Certified to UL 2272 (per the Amazon listing)
Cons
- 9.3-mile range claim
- Lowest battery per pound
- No load limit on the InMotion page we read
- A trainer, not transport
The E20 Lite is InMotion's 22 lb dual-tire trainer: a 120 Wh, 48V pack, a 450W rated motor (900W peak), a 9.3 mph top speed and a 9.3-mile range claim, per InMotion's service store page. The full E20 doubles the battery to 240 Wh at 30 lb and is rated for riders up to 198 lb.
Skip it unless you want the lightest possible practice wheel; for real trips, the 14D Pro is 10 lb heavier and carries 3.5 times the battery.
How we chose
We ranked wheels on weight first, then on how much battery each pound buys, the load limit, whether there is a handle for rolling the wheel, and UL 2272 certification as stated on the maker's page. All figures come from InMotion's and King Song's spec pages, read October 9, 2026.
Battery per pound
Battery cells are most of a wheel's weight, so watt-hours per pound shows how efficiently a wheel turns weight into range. Here are our picks with two heavier wheels for comparison.
| Wheel | Weight | Battery | Wh per lb | Suspension |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| InMotion E20 Lite | 22 lb | 120 Wh | 5.5 | None |
| InMotion V6 | 27.6 lb | 240 Wh | 8.7 | None |
| InMotion E20 | 30 lb | 240 Wh | 8.0 | None |
| King Song 14D Pro | 32 lb | 420 Wh | 13.1 | None |
| InMotion V8S | 35.2 lb | 728 Wh | 20.7 | None |
| King Song 16S Pro | 38.4 lb | 840 Wh | 21.9 | None |
| InMotion V9 | 50.7 lb | 750 Wh | 14.8 | 60 mm |
| King Song S18 Pro+ (for comparison) | 55 lb | 1,110 Wh | 20.2 | 100 mm |
| King Song F18 (for comparison) | 90 lb | 2,664 Wh | 29.6 | 100 mm |
The pattern in the table: the smallest wheels carry the least battery per pound, and the ratio climbs with pack size. Our reading of these figures (an inference, not a maker statement) is that the shell, motor and electronics add a base weight that a bigger pack spreads out. Bigger packs push the ratio up, but they also push the total weight past what most people want to carry. Our battery voltage explainer covers why more cells in series means a heavier pack.
What light costs you
Range
A 420 Wh wheel works out to about 13 miles of mixed riding with a reserve in our range calculator, and an 840 Wh wheel about 26. That suits last-mile and short commutes, not long ones.
Load limit
The lightest wheels are rated to 198 lb (V6, E20). The 14D Pro, 16S Pro, V8S and V9 are rated to 264 to 265 lb.
Suspension and speed
None of the wheels under 40 lb has suspension, and top speeds run from 9.3 to 22 mph. That is fine for learning and city trips, less so for rough roads.
What to skip
- A light wheel you will outgrow. If your trips are more than a few miles, the 6.4 lb the 16S Pro adds over the 14D Pro buys twice the battery.
- Taking weight figures at face value. InMotion's V9 page alone gives three weights; go by the spec table and allow a few pounds of margin when you plan stairs and trunks.
- Riding at your load limit. On a 198 lb wheel, a rider near that weight has no room for a loaded backpack.
- A flagship for its ratio. The 90 lb F18 has the best battery per pound in the table, and it is still a 90 lb wheel.
Tips for carrying a wheel
- Roll, do not carry. A trolley handle turns a 32 to 50 lb wheel into rolling luggage; the 14D Pro, V8S and V9 all list one.
- Check transit rules. Agencies set their own policies on personal electric devices.
- Measure your trunk. The V9 is 7.34 inches wide by InMotion's Amazon listing, and folding handles help.
For commuters choosing between light and long-range, our commuting picks weigh the trade-off, and first-time riders should start with our beginner picks.
