Run the pressure your maker gives, check it every week, and adjust within the maker's range for your weight. King Song recommends 30 to 40 psi on its S22 Pro depending on rider weight, with 35 psi as an all-round start; InMotion's V10 manual gives a factory default of 2.8 bar (about 41 psi). Tire size is fixed by your wheel's motor rim, so replacements must match the size and rim your maker specifies, and tubeless tires, which several new wheels use, are less prone to flats by InMotion's account.

Tire sizes on current wheels

EUC tires are named by outside diameter and width in inches, or sometimes by the motorcycle-style rim code. These are the sizes the makers list:

WheelTire size (maker's listing)TypeNotes from the maker
InMotion V914 x 3 in (3.00-10)Tubeless streetThe knobby tire of the same size does not fit the V9 motor; its bead diameter is too small

InMotion V1416 x 3 in on a 12 in motor rimOff-roadThe rim is shared with other 16 in wheels; the spec table lists 12 x 3 in

InMotion P680/90-14Motorcycle-style
King Song S19 Pro20 x 2.75 (hub 2.75-14)Street and light off-road90 mm suspension

The V14 entry shows why to read sizes carefully: InMotion calls it a 16 x 3 inch tire, but the motor rim is 12 inches, and the company says that rim is the same as on other 16-inch wheels. When you shop for a replacement, match both the tire size and the rim size, and confirm fit with your maker or dealer.

Pressure: what makers say

King Song S22 Pro setup guide30 to 40 psiDepends on rider weight; 35 psi as a good all-round start
InMotion V10 manual2.8 bar (about 41 psi)Factory default; inflate in time when low

Other models have their own figures in their manuals; use those, and never exceed the maximum printed on the tire sidewall. King Song ties its figure to rider weight, so start at the maker's middle value and adjust within the range.

Why it matters for range and handling

InMotion's service guide says that when range drops, check tire pressure first, and both InMotion and King Song list tire pressure among the factors that change range (King Song says so on its 14D Pro page, for example). Our range calculator lets you see how a change in energy use per mile affects distance.

Cold weather

King Song's winter guide warns that low temperatures can reduce tire pressure and make the ride less stable, and says to check and adjust to your model's recommended pressure. Check it indoors before a cold ride, then again after the wheel has been outside a while. Our winter riding guide has more.

Tubes or tubeless

Some wheels use an inner tube, such as the InMotion E20, while others ship tubeless, such as the V9 and V12S. InMotion says that "statistically speaking, tubeless tires develop flats less than 10% as frequently" as tubed tires, and that the V12S tubeless tire keeps enough pressure for low-speed riding if pierced. A tube is cheaper to replace: InMotion's parts store listed an E20 inner tube at $10 when we checked in October 2026.

Street or knobby

Street tires suit pavement; knobby tires grip on dirt and gravel. Not every wheel can take both. InMotion says the knobby tire of the V9's size does not fit its motor because the bead diameter is too small, while for the V14 it says many street and knobby tires exist for its rim, naming the Chao Yang H626 as its preferred street tire. Off-road riders should start with our off-road wheel picks.

Changing a tire

An EUC tire mounts on the hub motor itself (InMotion sells a V14 motor assembly with tire), so a tire change means taking the motor wheel out of the shell. InMotion's V10 manual says that if a tire must be replaced, for example after a burst, contact an authorized dealer or InMotion's after-sales service. If you do it yourself, follow your maker's instructions and use the maker's parts; InMotion's parts store, for example, listed a V9 tubeless tire at $49.99 and a V14 off-road tire at $32 when we checked.

Tire checklist

  • Check pressure weekly with a gauge, and before every cold-weather ride.
  • Look for cuts, bulges and worn tread before rides.
  • Replace with the size and rim your maker specifies.
  • Re-check pressure a day after any tire change.

Tire checks are part of our maintenance checklist, and a worn or patched tire is one of the things to check in our used EUC checklist. Add-ons by wheel model, from seats to power pads, are in our accessories guide.

Frequently asked questions

What tire pressure should I run on my electric unicycle?

Use the figure in your wheel's manual. King Song recommends 30 to 40 psi on the S22 Pro depending on rider weight, with 35 psi as a starting point, and InMotion's V10 manual gives 2.8 bar, about 41 psi, as its factory default. Never exceed the maximum on the tire sidewall.

Does tire pressure affect EUC range?

Yes. InMotion's service guide says to check tire pressure first when range drops, and both InMotion and King Song list tire pressure among the factors that change range. A soft tire is an easy range loss to fix.

Are tubeless tires better on an electric unicycle?

InMotion says tubeless tires develop flats less than 10% as often as tubed tires, and that its V12S tubeless tire keeps enough pressure for low-speed riding if pierced. Tubes are cheaper to replace, with an InMotion E20 tube listed at $10 when we checked.

Can I put a knobby tire on my EUC?

Only if one exists in your wheel's size and fits its motor rim. InMotion says the knobby tire in the V9's size does not fit the V9 motor because its bead diameter is too small, while the V14's rim takes many street and knobby tires.

How do I change a tire on an electric unicycle?

It usually means removing the motor wheel from the shell. InMotion's V10 manual says to contact an authorized dealer or InMotion's after-sales service for tire replacement. If you do it yourself, follow your maker's instructions and buy the maker's parts in the exact size.

Why does my EUC tire lose pressure in winter?

Air pressure falls as temperature drops, and King Song's winter guide warns that low temperatures can reduce tire pressure and make the ride less stable. Check and adjust to your model's recommended pressure before cold rides.
